We all know that feeling when you have your drinks and snacks ready, as you settle down to watch the next episode of your favorite Netflix show, but when you press play you get this error:

We're having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later or select a different title.

This is also known as Netflix error tvq-pb-101. While it can be annoying, there are many things you can do to resolve it. Most of the time, this Netflix error is due to information on your device that needs refreshing. So, how do you fix it?

1. Reconnect Your Internet

One of the most common culprits for this error is your internet connection. Just because you can navigate Netflix, it doesn't mean you have an active internet connection—it could be displaying cached content.

As such, first check to see if your device has an active internet connection. You can do this on mobile devices by swiping down to bring up the notification panel. On Windows 10, press Windows key + I and click Network & Internet.

Alternatively, you may be connected but have slower speeds than normal. You can use a service like Fast.com to check this.

To check your device's internet speed from the Netflix mobile app, tap More > App Settings > Internet Speed Test.

If your device connectivity is zero or below what you would expect, restart your router, then wait a few minutes and try again. If you're on a mobile device, you can also try enabling airplane mode, waiting a minute, then turning it off.

If you continue to get bad network speeds, contact your internet service provider.

2. Restart Your Device

While often used as a joke, restarting your device works wonders for dozens of tech issues, including Netflix errors. For mobile devices such as phones and tablets, hold the power button and tap Restart.

If you are using a laptop or desktop, shut down your device, wait for a minute, then boot it up.

3. Reinstall the Netflix App

If you still get the "We're having trouble playing this title" error despite reconnecting your internet and restarting your device, the next step is to check your connection to Netflix itself.

You can attempt to log in to your Netflix account through a private browser or another device. Borrow the mobile device of a friend or family member and try to log into your Netflix account using their device.

Once you are sure that the error does not happen on other devices, uninstall the Netflix app and download it again.

4. Clear Your Netflix Cache

While having a cache is useful to speed up your browsing and take the strain off your internet, a large Netflix cache can sometimes cause problems.

To clear your Netflix cache on your mobile device, go to your device Settings > General > Apps or Applications > Netflix > Storage > Clear Data or Clear Storage.

5. Check Your Device Disk Storage

A lack of storage is a common issue experienced by users streaming Netflix from Xbox or PlayStation devices. When storage is too low on these devices, Netflix will not be able to run.

For example, Xbox requires that you have at least 8MB of storage available to watch Netflix. To check your Xbox storage space, press the Guide button > Settings > System > Storage.

6. Download the Title Again

Occasionally, Netflix error tvq-pb-101 appears when you try to watch something that you've downloaded for offline viewing. To fix this error, you can delete the existing title download and get a fresh copy.

To resolve this, go to Downloads and tap the pencil icon. Then, press the red X icon next to the title that is giving you the error.

Next, search for what you want to redownload. Remember, if you're watching a TV show, you can either get an individual episode or the entire season.

7. Change Your VPN Server

While VPNs are useful to safeguard your security, they can cause occasional issues with your Netflix subscription. Most VPNs connect automatically to the best possible available server. However, the content you are trying to watch may not be available in that particular region.

If you suspect that a VPN is causing your Netflix account to have errors, use a search engine to find what country the movie or TV show you are trying to watch is available in. Then, change the location of your VPN server to match.

8. Log All Users Out

In some cases, having multiple users watching from a single profile at the same time can cause your account to be flagged due suspicious behavior.

Netflix Sign Out of All Devices

You can check if this error is due to too many users by booting everyone out simultaneously. To log out all the users out of your Netflix account, go to Account > Settings and select Sign out of all devices.

Once you are the only one with access to the account profile, you can attempt to continue to watch on Netflix and observe if the error returns. If you believe that someone has hacked your Netflix account, you can also check to see if your Netflix account was compromised.

9. Contact Customer Support

When all else fails, you can always ask for help from Netflix customer support. You can report the issue to Netflix via app on both iOS and Android by going to More > Help > Chat or Call.

Alternatively, you can also go to Netflix Help Center. Here you can browse support topics that might help you fix your issue.
