If you like to chat with teammates while on the go, or your home broadband is just a little spotty, you'll know the annoyance of trying to send a message while your connection keeps dropping out. Fortunately, Microsoft wants to fix this by allowing Teams to queue up all of the messages you've typed while offline and automatically send them when you get your internet connection back.

A Small Savior for Spotty Internet Connections

We caught wind of this feature over on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. The Roadmap is where Microsoft lists all the features it has planned for its Office 365 suite, as well as an estimate to when they may release.

If that name is familiar to you, it's because the Roadmap is a fantastic way to gain insight into what the software giant has planned for the future. For instance, we recently reported on Microsoft Teams Web getting Gallery View and Together Mode after it appeared on the Roadmap.

This new entry is titled "Microsoft Teams: Queue sent messages when offline" and has the feature ID 64687. The description goes into more detail:

When attempting to send messages while offline, Teams will queue messages and send once a network connection is re-established. If the message is in an unsent state for more than 24 hours, the message will fail and the user will be prompted to resend or delete the message.

As such, if you're a big Teams user, you can now send messages to your heart's content even if you have spotty or no internet. Microsoft Teams will automatically send all your pre-written messages and get you caught up as soon as you re-establish a connection.

Unfortunately, this feature is still under development at the time of writing, so it's not ready just yet. Fortunately, Microsoft plans to release the feature in January 2021, so you shouldn't have to wait too long to send offline messages on Teams.

Making Microsoft Teams Easier to Use on the Go

If you're plagued with a spotty internet connection, or you like to message on the go, Microsoft Teams will soon help you out by queueing up every message you sent offline. Hopefully, this handy feature will be one of many improvements to aid people who like to work while on the move.

In fact, using Microsoft Teams on mobile has never been better. In December 2020, the software giant announced a big package of updates for the mobile version of Teams, including Spotlight mode.
