If you're one who always forgets where specific files and folders are, Microsoft has a great Teams update just for you. Soon, Microsoft Teams will let you quickly go back and forth through your document history so you can easily find that piece you were working on.

A New History Menu for Microsoft Teams

Microsoft hasn't made an official blog post announcing the feature, but it has put a history menu feature on its Microsoft 365 Roadmap. The roadmap is a great way to peek into Microsoft's development process and see what features are on the horizon.

The roadmap recently received an update with a feature called "Microsoft Teams: History Menu." The feature is scheduled for February 2021, and its description is as follows:

The History Menu for Teams desktop clients displays your recently visited locations when hovering over the backward and forward navigation options. Using the menu you can quickly jump back to previous locations, making it much easier to quickly get back to nested locations like tabs or documents. The menu is also accessible via keyboard shortcut.

In essence, this new feature will remember all the files and documents you visited in Teams. When you want to revisit a previous document, you can hover over the back button and find it again, somewhat like a web browser.

Microsoft Teams Is Becoming a Productivity Powerhouse

This update is but one of many that Microsoft has announced for Teams recently. It seems that the company is going in strong with Teams as the current COVID-19 pandemic continues to force people to work from home.

For instance, we lately saw the announcement of Outlook emails becoming embeddable within Teams. This means you no longer need to copy-paste emails into Teams to discuss them. Just import the email and talk about it with your co-workers.

Microsoft is also allowing Teams apps to pop out of the main window. As such, if you want to keep your eyes on a specific app, you can pop it out and put it on a different monitor without swapping between Teams apps.

The above two features, plus this History Mode announcement, were all made in December 2020. It's clear that Microsoft is pushing for Teams to become a formidable force in the remote working world, both now and after COVID-19 has died down.

Microsoft Teams Is Making Lost Files History

If you're someone who always forgets where their files are, you'll want to keep your eyes on Microsoft Teams shortly.

That's not all that's coming soon to Microsoft Teams. The program will also receive a major call update soon to make it easier to phone co-workers and friends.
