Handing out your credit card to your kids has the potential to be a recipe for disaster. But Apple may have found a way of doing this that, to quote on an old Apple tagline, "just works."

Discovered by 9to5Mac in the first developer beta for iOS 14.5, the next version of Apple’s mobile operating system could include an Apple Card Family feature that supports multiple user accounts.

iCloud Family Sharing Option

Supposedly referred to as codename "Madison" inside Apple, the feature lets users share their Apple Card with family members using the iCloud Family Sharing option.

They can invite these family members to use the Apple-branded credit card, while also being able to keep an eye on spending using the Wallet app.

In addition, they will reportedly be able to set spending limits for individual users, meaning that a parent could give their kids a weekly allowance, but have the Apple Card cut off when they reach a preordained figure.

The code also offers some clues about how Apple's Daily Cash feature will work:

Share your Apple Card with eligible friends and family in your family group. Build credit together, track spending, and receive Daily Cash.

Welcome to Apple Card

Apple launched its Apple Card in August 2019, after first showing it off to users at an Apple event earlier that year. It builds on the success of Apple Pay with the first Apple-branded credit card.
